The Plaza is a unique civic place that celebrates the centennial of the Cleveland Cultural Gardens Federation. It presents a fine opportunity to both increase awareness of our cultural heritage as Americans and create a wonderful “teaching moment" for the community at large. Set in Rockefeller Park, between Lake Erie and University Circle, it is a landmark that will celebrate citizenship, including cultural events throughout the year. The circular design, in the Hellenic classic amphitheater configuration, was a complicated undertaking on a virgin site that had to be coordinated with poor soil conditions, including the protection of the existing trees. As an Architect, I could not have asked for a better outcome. The Lakeland team was truly outstanding."
